James Arthur Davis was born on July 6, 1947, to Alfred and Ernestine (Brown) Davis in Augusta, Arkansas. He was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife (Shirley Stewart Davis); daughter (Jaime Christina Davis Harris); four brothers, John Davis, Carl Davis, Roy Davis, and Alfred Davis, Jr. and one sister Marie Davis.
James joined church and accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from Augusta Public Schools. After graduating James attended Shorter College in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
James went on to serve our country in the United States Military, Army Branch. He was a retired Veteran and was honored with a Purple Heart while stationed in Vietnam. James was a hard-working man, with several career opportunities and endeavors to include owner and operator of a Social Establishment; retired from Delta Airlines; and the United States Postal Service.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, family member and loving friend and an all knowing “people person” who loved everyone he met. Many will treasure and miss him dearly. He loved watching his westerns and NCIS shows, along with a good Dallas Cowboys or Los Angeles Lakers game. His pride and joy were his grandsons.
James leaves to cherish his memories: Son, Brian Davis (Denotria) of Edmond, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Brian (Deuce) and Brayden Davis of Edmond, Oklahoma; four sisters, Doris Davis of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Ann Hale of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Loraine Ford (John) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Sharon Stokes (Wyamon) of Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers, Frederick Davis (Ozetta) of Conway, Arkansas, and Willie Davis of North Little Rock, three Sisters-in-law; Helen Davis, Little Rock, Arkansas, Mildred Davis, Kansas City, Missouri, and Betty Cunningham, North Little Rock, Arkansas and one Son-in-law, Rev. Gregory Harris, Memphis, Tennessee as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends who he loved dearly.
